Elvis is definitely alive

0

By Tori St.Clair/LifeAtStart.com reporter

Elvis Presley is the subject of many conspiracy theories, but the most popular one is the idea that he is still alive. Many fans firmly believe he faked his death August 16th of 1977 to escape the pressures of fame.

The first bit of evidence there is toward this theory is that the cause of Elvis’s death is still unclear. It was first reported it was a heart attack, but then it changed and was a drug overdose, then his step-brother came out and said it was suicide. Also, his dad ordered an autopsy and for some reason the reports won’t be public until 2027.

Another strange piece of evidence is that a year after Elvis supposedly died, a singer named Orion whose voice sounds just like Elvis came out with an album. In his videos he even wears a mask to cover most of his face, but his hair and visible features strongly resemble those of Elvis.

The weirdest thing to happen that can be linked to this theory is that an interview came out in 2002 by a doctor named Dr. Hinton. He was a psychiatrist and had a patient named Jesse. (Elvis was supposed to have a twin brother named Jesse but was a stillborn.) After treating him for a while, Jesse broke down and claimed he was Elvis Presley. He went as far to get his DNA tested and it matched both sides of the Presley family tree. Theorists say he faked his death and then took on his brother’s name.

The last strange potential evidence of this theory is a fake funeral. At Elvis’s funeral, many people reported to see beads of sweat on the body in the casket. A guest at the funeral said this was because the AC had broke and everyone was sweating, but dead bodies can’t sweat.

Although this is a curious amount of evidence for this theory, hopefully we will know more in 2027 when the autopsy reports finally come out.

An Open letter to my father

0

By Rayne Wilcox/ Lifeatstart.com reporter

Hey ‘dad’ I did it without you.

Dear dad, do you remember me? I’m your daughter that you dropped off at the face of the Earth.

I know that you probably won’t care about this letter that will be full of what I’ve been feeling lately  due to your selfishness, and you probably won’t ever know that this letter exists, because you haven’t downloaded the app for journalism  that I’ve told you about over and over again.

Now this letter starts at the age of six, when you picked me up from my mom’s house. I remember vividly that you were talking about going to the fair that was happening that  weekend and I was excited about being able to spend time with you in what seemed like forever in a little girl’s mind.

Do you remember what happened that night? I do. You dropped me off at my grandparents house and took your girlfriend to the fair instead. You let me down once again.

Do you remember the father daughter dances  that my grade school held? You probably don’t because you only went to one.  While the little girls all had their daddies at the dance, I was with the closest thing to a father figure in my life, My stepdad. Don’t get me wrong, I’m thankful for him but it hurt like hell that I wasn’t with you.

My mom has tried telling you that one day I’ll stop wasting my breath on you and completely cut you out of my life.

She’s right, but I don’t know when that day will come. I give you countless chances and it shouldn’t be like this. I am your daughter and I shouldn’t have to beg my own father to be in my life.

Your version of spending time with me was taking me to a bar with you so you could hangout with your buddies. It’s quite comical, really it is. You couldn’t go a day without drinking even for your daughter.

Let’s come back to the present world. I was part of the play, Get Smart in my school’s Drama Club. You promised me that you would show up and support me. What did you do? You stood me up.

You never showed up and you have the decency to message me during class on Monday saying that you couldn’t make it because of a headache.  How low can you go, dad?

My grandma made sure to make it and I know damn well that if my grandpa were still here, he would of made it as well. But you couldn’t make it because of a headache that you could have taken  medication for?

Thank you for showing me what not to look for in a partner. You’ve hurt me a lot mentally.  And one day, I will get over it. Maybe that day will be soon or it’ll be 20 years down the road, I don’t really know.

I hope you change your ways so I can have my dad back, but until then, goodbye.

Student vs. staff basketball game

By Me’Lyea Burton / LifeAtStart.com Reporter

On Thursday, April 13th, there will be a student versus staff basketball game during our sixth and seventh hours.

During the game, there will be a performance from the Spartan Squad Dance Team, then the actual game between the senior class and the staff will occur.

There will only be 300 tickets sold for $5 each. See football coach, Corey Pargo, for details.

With the limited ticket sales, it helps prevent the risk of shenanigans from students who just want to be out of class. Hopefully we don’t get kicked out of this event at the end of sixth hour.

How to: Color blocking

0

By Joseph Rowan / LifeAtStart.com Reporter

Whenever I walk around Start, I see people who do not know how to dress. Not the people who don’t care how they look, but people that try and don’t succeed.

So I decided that I will make an article how to dress very minimalistic, but still look like you know what you’re doing.

When it comes to color blocking there are three basic things that you need to take into effect: color, contrast, and tone.

Color: Color is the most basic part of color blocking. Basically there are only a few colors you need: white, black, and gray tops with light wash or black denim.

Contrast: Contrast is the most important part of color blocking. The most basic outfit you could put together is a white top, black denim, and a white and black shoe (preferably vans or converse).

Another basic outfit is a dark colored top, light wash denim, and a white shoe. In this outfit the white shoe is contrast to the dark colored top.

Contrast works really well if you stay minimal, less is more.

Tone: Tone basically is taking those two basic outfits I gave you and switching out some items. Instead of white you could use a light gray colored top and you could use raw denim (dark blue) instead of black.

Also, if you get rid of the dark colored top and use a white tee that is another good option and a nice summer outfit.

That’s my take on it, but dress the way you want, it’s up to you.
