Sleep is for the strong

It is very important to get a lot of sleep. One of the most popular reasons why you should get a lot of sleep is because it plays an important role in your physical health. If you love being active, it’s best if you get a good night’s sleep because it can also improve your physical well being.

Being well rested can make your brain function better. If you don’t sleep well, it can increase your risk of heart disease, cause a stroke, or can cause inflammation. Good sleep also improves your immune system. You can most likely catch a cold if you get less than seven hours of sleep at night.

So if you’re feeling tired or exhausted and you can’t get enough sleep, 10-20 minute naps can help you refresh your mind.

Flat Earth

Recently there has been a lot of controversy on the earth being round. Members of the Flat Earth Society say the Earth is really flat. They claim that all satellite photographs of the earth are fake.  They also claim a rounded Earth is a conspiracy that was orchestrated by NASA and government agencies.
There are so many arguments on social media. One person tweeted, “how do you explain the Earth’s horizon always being at eye level’. Another person tweeted, “the Earth is round and there is photographic evidence to prove it”. The arguments and theories continue to grow.
I think the Earth is round because everyone else does, but I have not seen the earth from space so I would not know. I understand why people would claim the earth is flat you should be able to see a curve somewhere on earth. This interests me because I never really thought about it and now the arguments are everywhere.

My depression…

Depression is waking up in the morning dreading the thought of getting out of bed, wishing you wouldn’t have been able to wake up when really you should be grateful God gave you another day.

Depression is having to think of your past as someone else’s because you don’t want to accept that it was yours.

Depression is wasting the breath that you barely have to say I’m fine, when in all reality I’m hurt more than words can describe.

Depression is hearing your family laughing, making you feel like you may not even be related to them because you never laugh.

Depression is learning at a young age to love family but family isn’t always love.

Depression is wanting to take the little happiness you have out of your heart, rip it up, and throw it into the sea of your tears because you’re barely holding on.

Depression is wanting to take your fake smiles, wrap them up like a present, and give them to someone more deserving.

Depression is writting the word alone and seeing the word home.

Depression is loving the broken things and hoping they piece back together because it’s the only hope you have.

Depression is people telling you to stop crying because “you have no reason to” as if sadness is a privilege.

Depression is writting sad stories with twisted endings because it’s all you’ve ever experienced.

Depression is a mask sitting on a hidden figures face.

Depression is sadness.

Depression is fear.

Depression is scary.

Depression is your best friend.

Depression is your worst nightmare.

A push for peaceful spectating

Anyone who knows me, knows that I love attending after school sporting events such as the football and basketball games. I’m a very busy person, so these activities give me a chance to unwind and catch up with my friends. However, I have noticed that more and more people like to start problems at these events and ruin it for everybody else.

On October 20, 2017 I attended the Start vs. Rogers football game. It was our last home game of the season so I figured I would go to have a good time. Everything was going well until the start of the fourth quarter. I look to my right and see a massive group of people throwing water bottles and acting like fools. Police rushed over to the area and several people started to run away. At this point I decided it was time to leave. I said goodbye to all my friends and proceeded to walk out to my car. When I got back home, I learned that after the game somebody had a gun and fired it two or three times. Fortunately, nobody was hurt.

This is my last year of high school and I want to enjoy it without other people ruining it. It’s rare to go to a football game without some type of altercation breaking out between people. The sad thing is when these events start to happen, spectators do not try to stop them. Many try to make the conflict worse by instigating the issue. Before you know it, several people are caught up in the situation. I hope as the year goes on people learn how to conduct themselves properly at these functions. If not, then I may stop attending them altogether.
