Family is forever

There are many positives and negatives to having a big family. I have seven siblings so I would know. Everyone either hates each other or loves each other, there’s no in between.

When you live with a family as big as mine, no one ever gets their own room. We always argue over whose clothes are whose, even though I’m six times their size. There’s always a fight over who’s going to do the dishes, that usually turns into screaming or hair pulling. Someone always has to sit on the floor because people don’t make couches big enough for my family. No matter what we always fight over who’s the favorite kid even though parents say “they don’t have a favorite.”

Sometimes I think about being an only child, but then I think about how boring my life would be. At the end of the day, I always have somebody to do my chores when I don’t feel like it. I always have someone to brush my hair when I don’t feel like it. Having so many siblings allows me to always have somebody hang out with. At the end of the day I have forever best friends.

Family is forever. I would never trade my siblings for the world.

An escape from the real world

Sports have always been one of the most important parts of my life and for one very big reason – it acts as a distraction from everything wrong or chaotic going on in my life. No matter what’s going on, I can always count on sports to help get my mind off of things, even if it’s for a small amount of time.

When I step onto the court or the field, everything changes. I check in to my surroundings and become solely focused on the task at hand. All of my worries and problems disappear, and sometimes I even forget about them for a split second. The only thing on my mind is what I’m about to do or how I’m going to react to whatever comes at me. It helps me not worry and focus on something completely different for a little bit and helps change my overall mood.

Whether I’m mad, sad, nervous, or scared, I’ve always turned to sports to help with my emotions. Whether it’s a game, a practice, or just something recreational, sports have always been my peace and escape from the world and what’s going on around me.

My senior year football season so far has been very good. Our football team had a very rough start we went 1-3 to start off the season but we quickly turned it around when we started playing city teams.

Our football team was very underrated going into the city league and the Waite Indians were projected to beat us but we blew them out 25-10. The next week we went on to beat the Scott Bulldogs 7-0, the week after that we beat the Bowsher Rebels 17-0. Last week we beat the Rogers Rams 31-13, it was a closer game then we intended but we are just glad that we won.

Ever since our senior class was freshmen we’ve been city champs and we have been 20-0 in the city league. We are going on to win our 4th city championship our last game is vs Woodward this Thursday and it is a very bitter sweet feeling. Make sure you are at our game at Start at 7pm!

Going to school, playing sports, and having a part time job can be one of the most stressful things. Some people aren’t able to maintain both at the same time. Luckily for me, I’ve had a job since I was 13.

My grandparents owned a sports bar and restaurant called Cheers Sports Eatery. They had the best pizza that I’ve ever tasted. The restaurant was considered a hidden gem.

I was hired at 13 as a dishwasher and eventually I transitioned into making pizzas. When I was 16 my grandparents retired and sold the restaurant. Unfortunately, I decided to leave after they sold it for a change of scenery.

When I was 17 I applied at Chick-Fil-A and it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I currently work there and I love my job. If you ever think that you don’t have time for school, sports, and a job, just remember I’ve been doing the same thing since I was 13.
